vespers, Katy Naylor

sometimes I walk through the forest

on the very edge of dusk

the air sharpening

the branches’ shadows lengthening

and I could sing

for the pleasure of being here

and I stare

into the mouth of the onrushing dark

unhinging

but it is not here yet

it is not here yet

Katy Naylor lives by the sea, on the south coast of England. She writes poetry and text adventure games in the time that falls between the cracks. She secretly wants to be a Viking. She has work published or forthcoming in: The Bear Creek Gazette, Outcast Press, and Resurrection Mag.
